My Alaskan Home

I bought a house up here in Alaska.  A small 1 bedroom/1 bathroom log home.   Here it is in the early morning.
Here it is a little later in the morning.  There is an upstairs and a downstairs.
This is the main entrance, and the upper parking area.  That is my Subaru Baja.
This would be the lower parking area, and my heating oil tank. my propane tank, and other odds and ends left behind by the previous owner.
This is the backdoor and the Northeast corner of the house.
This would be the backside, or South side of the home.  The picture is from by the heating oil tank.  That is my woodpile, and snow shovel.
The South side from the upper parking area.  Those black things sticking out of the snow are from the septic system.
This is looking out toward the Southeast, out my living room window.  If you look closely in the right window, you will see some horizontal lines back in the trees.  That is the Parks Highway.
This is about 2 pm Monday January 26th.  This is down my driveway toward my house.  I had the wood stove fired up (notice the smoke).  It was -24 degrees or so when the picture was taken.
 A second driveway picture.
Here is the edge of my property line.  The ladder over 1/2 buried in snow is mine.  The widow maker and 2 other leaning trees are on the neighbors property.
 More of my "yard".
This is my garden area, with fence to hopefully keep the moose out.
You can see a bird feeder hanging in my tree.  The white PVC pipes are to my underground water storage tank.  I have indoor plumbing and hot water, but my water has to be delivered.
Another picture out my living room window toward the Parks Highway.
Property line is out there. (somewhere)
 My neighbors house.
My driveway from inside my living room.   The neighbors home would be to the right.
 Another driveway picture.
 Garden from inside my home.
right side of garden from inside home.
There are a few trees on the property.
Some of these trees are the neighbors
 These are all mine.

The sun was out on this day!
 A wonderful winter wonderland.

Tall trees, with a crescent moon in the middle.  The iPhone did not do too badly.
This would be the roof of my neighbor's house.  This neighbor is across the road.

This is the road I drive to get to Parks Highway.  Unfortunately it is dark when I go to and return from work at this time of year.  Lucky for days off.
This is the Parks Highway, looking toward Fairbanks.
This was the sunset one day, from one of Tanana Chief Conference's buildings.
This is my wood stove. It sits between my kitchen and living room.  I have been enjoying it this month.
Other than my wood stove I don't have a lot in my house.  Enjoy the photos, until next time.

Arriving in Fairbanks!

It has been a while since I have blogged.  Finally getting back to documenting my life in Alaska.

These first few pictures are just after my arrival on October 19th.  There was a little snow around.
The skies were mostly clear, and the temperature was not too cold.

I then took trip to North Pole, Alaska.  A 20 mile drive from Fairbanks.  As you can guess, Santa has a home in North Pole.

It being late October, the big guy was not in his chair.

You can try to see if you name is on his list.

There was a little more snow this day, and it was a little colder.

The snow and frost was soon collecting on the trees.  It was really beautiful.  Unfortunately the shorter days do not allow for lots of picture taking.

 I did get a few.

 Until next time.  Stay warm.
